Ah, Patchouli oil - this beloved essential oil made it’s most recent mark as a mask for the odor of a particularly cherished herb, though it’s traditional use dates back hundreds, perhaps thousands of years.

The aroma of patchouli began to floated across western society in the early 1800s. At that time very costly imported Indian paisley fabrics arrived at the ports of Europe exuding the mysterious aroma of patchouli then considered a hallmark of highest quality, authentic oriental goods.

Today, Patchouli is most often used in aromatherapy as a relaxant. The warmth and depth of its aroma make it comforting and relaxing. The dried leaves and stems are employed in traditional Chinese medicine to normalize the flow and balance of the life force known as qi (or chi).

DayBreak’s Aged Heart Note Patchouli is grown in Indonesia by local farmers who pick, dry, stack and bundle the leaves for distillation elsewhere. Unlike Sandalwood, Patchouli is extremely renewable and in ready supply, so if you love it … you can really love it!! On the other hand, like Sandalwood, Patchouli is better when aged a minimum of one year … best 10 or more.
