DayBreak's Gharshana starts with Lavender Mint Salt Glow, on the feet to encourage systemic cleansing by exfoliating and stimulating. A good substitute would be fresh lemon & salt. Rinse and begin the dry brushing/massage sequence below.
1. We always massage toward the heart. Begin with circles back and forth on the back and front of your hand, emphasizing the spaces between each finger. Circles on the wrist, and back and forth strokes on the forearm covering all surfaces. circles on the elbow moving up the upper arm with back and forth strokes covering all surfaces, until you reach the shoulder.
2. Repeat the same sequence as #1 on the left arm.
3. Massage the upper shoulders and upper back area ... best you can. If you have a friend, so much the better. Massage the upper chest area using a diagonal stroke like a V, back and forth. This is the lymphatic area. We do not massage the breast tissues.
4. Massage the abdomen using a horizontal stroke with hands moving in opposite direction --> <--. Then with both hands moving in a diagonal toward the groin, which is the second lymph location. Then both hands moving in a diagonal upward toward the ribs, then up and down on the sides.
5. Massage the lower back area.
6. Begin working the legs, using circular strokes in an upward motion towards the heart. Massage back and forth on the feet, emphasizing the sole of the foot and the spaces between each toe. Using both hands, work in circular strokes on the ankles, up the calves, back and forth on the lower leg and covering all surfaces. Two-handed circular strokes on the knee, working up the thigh and covering all surfaces. Massage the right hip and the right buttocks. Repeat on the left side.
7. The face is done last and proceeds as follows: rub back and forth across the forehead, make circles on the temples and the cheeks, rub back and forth using the index fingers of both hands along the sides of the nose to above the eyebrows, rub back and forth across the chin and a circular strokes upward on the neck.
8. Now proceed with Abhyanga and a warm shower or bath.
