The pinkish tint is your proof that our Dragon's Blood is up to DayBreak's legendary standard: Exquisite ingredients lavishly used!
I admire and respect Dr Oz and Jillian Michaels. Recently, both reported that Dragon's Blood resin, from the Peruvian Rain Forest, has powerful and effective healing properties, the most amazing of which is the ability to form second skin over a burn, cut or cracked skin area and allow it to heal from the inside out. That is the best type of healing. I had to work with this. And I have!! WOW!
This is one powerful folk remedy in use since the 1600's! And throughout much of the Amazon rainforest, Dragon's blood -- called both Sangre de Drago and Sangre de Grado -- is the primary topical aid for just about anything bad that can happen to skin.
DayBreak brings you a wonderful balm formulated with Croton Lechleri, the most active Dragon's Blood variety. There are no sustainability issues because this plant self-sows. In fact, by farming and formulating with it, we are helping to control something that could be invasive. And man does it work!!
Where's the magic hidden? The secret is in the resin! Dragon's Blood resin -- or sap -- is rich in protective antioxidant phenols, and a host of anti-inflammatory compounds of various kinds.

Croton lechleri -- the source of the most potent Dragon's blood -- is native to South Africa and grows wildly well in Peru.
This is a stand of trees in Africa. So beautiful!!
If you were to visit the Peruvian Amazon or South Africa, you might stop to admire a stand of Croton lechleri -- Dragon's blood trees. The tall trees bear a mottled-white and gray bark, and some of the trees are tapped like our maples. These taps yield the resinous sap for which the tree is deservedly famous. The sap runs from the Dragon's Blood tree in the same manner that delicious maple sap runs from maple trees in spring. But while the maple tree sap is amber, Dragon's blood runs rich and red, just like fresh blood.
On the left, Dragon's Blood resin. On the right, Dragon's Blood powder.
The solid resin, on the left, must be pulverized prior to any use. It turns our balm pinkish and can also be used as an artist's pigment ... but it seems a waste when it's so healing!!
And like blood, it is rich in nourishing and healing compounds which help to protect the cells of the skin, and reduces redness and swelling. It also contains a group of compounds called proanthocyanidins, which actually repair collagen, the lattice-like main protein that makes up much of our tissues. Additionally, Dragon's blood contains taspine, a known tissue-healing agent. The sap also demonstrates antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal activity. This is why Dragon's blood is so widely used on all manner of skin insults ... extreme dryness, cuts, bites, burns, stings, rashes, abrasions, sores, wounds and infectious skin conditions. They all benefit from application of the healing latex of this tree.
Many uses this magickal element! Healing? Yes. Artist's pigment? Yes. But also used by women who wish to receive an offer of marriage. They write their lover's name on a small square of brown paper, cross it with their own name, fold Dragon's Blood powder into the name paper, and throw the packet onto the fire while making their wish!
